Hello! Let me first start by stating the fact that I am very toxic - not sure that that is the issue or not but, 17 days ago I started juicing to get my system moving and i then added fresh wheat-organic grass to the mix and with-in 45 minutes I was severeley sick. almost having an allergic reaction - nausia, rining of the ears and the worst was anxiety attacks - I felt like I was on fire from the inside out. Well I stopped juicing and athat was 17 days ago, I am getting better but I havn't eaten anything other than liquids for the past 6 days, everytime I get my system moving again by food or exercise it starts this feeling up again. Has anyone experianced anything like this? I want to continue - my husband loves the stuff but I can't handle the anxiety - is there such a thing as an allergy to wheat grass?
Please, can anyone help me????? Thanks, Sissy lee

Good for you for trying to get some great quality raw food into your body. In the long run, this will be extremely helpful to you. There are 2 reasons why you may have experienced the sickness and nausea you describe and both of them should be avoided. Avoid Wheatgrass That Contains Mold! The main reason that we're in business is because we produce such a clean product (no detectable molds). It's easy and cheap to sprout wheatgrass, but it's very hard to control the molds unless you are in just the right environment. If it is grown in trays, in a greenhouse or in a hot environment, it will be infested with molds. You are likely ingesting mycelial growth (slime mold); specifically the phytopathogens Rhizopus sp. and Pythium sp. These molds come as a function of the growing environment and we have seen many forms of certified organic wheatgrass that is absolutely loaded with these molds. You must grown wheatgrass in natural conditions where much lower planting density, mother nature and a long growth cycle takes care of the problem (120 days outdoors vs 7-14 days indoors). It's normal for there to be a broad range of reactions to mold including anything from zero effect (it just tastes bad) to life threatening anaphylactic shock. If you are getting clean wheatgrass (what we make) it will taste better, be very easy to drink and to our knowledge no one has ever had a mold this type of reaction to our wheatgrass juice. You Might Be Allergic To Grass? The only people that do not tolerate our clean wheatgrass juice well are those with a "grass" allergy. This happens infrequently but if you do have a grass allergy, there is nothing that you can adjust to take wheatgrass juice. Conclusion There is considerable overlap between the symptoms that come from an allergic reaction to mold vs. an allergic reaction to grass. Therefore, I can't tell you which one you are experiencing. In our experience, it is often the mold and rarely the grass. To determine this with certainty, you need to see an allergy specialist or buy some some of our clean wheatgrass juice and try it out in a small amount at first. I would likely take the second approach as regardless of the result, it would provide your husband with a much better and cleaner experience.

Hello again! Thanks for the info, Derek. I appreciate it! Well today is a good day as yesterday was as well. I am still not completely right but, the symtoms changed as we went along - less of the anxiety and more depression. so odd, one moment I was fine and the next I wasn't. Extream depression with no reason and then I would be fine for a awhile and then not be. no reason for any of it. Something was oviously moving through and effecting my brain. I found that B12 shots and a lot of prayer seem to help the most. I have had allergy tests and am not allergic to anything other than extreamly sensative to most - I have Lupus. I cannot eat alfalfa sprouts. Is wheat grass related? Also, I am wondering, if since wheat grass is an immune booster, it would make sense that I cannot take it due to my immune system being in overdrive as it is?
Ultimately, whatever I stired up, I think is on it's way out. I am surprised at the length of time it is taken to work through my system though. One last thought - Please tell me that if it is a mold allergy or was mold that effected me that it will go away? The grass was in a flat and had been grown organically, I would not doubt that there was probably some mold that I could not see - It was in my warm car for about 3 hours before I arrived home with it and I did not refridgerate it right away - Thank you! I just want to take this opportunity to remind you that we are health enthusiasts (and farmers) not doctors. What I'm about to tell you comes from our observations and experiences. I indicated before that the reaction you experienced was likely from wheatgrass juice that contains mold. Mold can create something called mycotoxins. "Myco" means fungus (or mold) and "toxin" means poison. "Mycotoxins" are poisons that are made by molds growing in grain or forage. For example, ungermanated seed rotting in the soil of tray grown wheatgrass. There are over 400 known mycotoxins that exist and they vary widely in nature. As farmers, we understand that mold growing in improperly stored feed can actually alter animal hormonal levels and breeding habits. We recently spoke with a lovely woman who had been taking wheatgrass juice (not ours) and was experiencing hot flashes. The problem, she is in her late 60's. Scientists will tell you that mycotoxins alter endocrine and neuroendocrine function. Hormones that regulate and control the body are interfered by mycotoxins and can have estrogenic effect. See the description on Zearalenone which is a myco-estrogen in both of the attached PDF files. Here are my thoughts:
You also asked if wheatgrass juice is an immune system builder. It really has a very simple task. Wheatgrass juice is just a terrific source of easy to assimilate, complete nutrition intended to fuel your body. Your body will decide how and where to use these raw materials. In our expereince, it will make the right decisions. Here's a health experience posted by one of our customers with a different auto-immune challenge for reference: http://www.dynamicgreens.com/wheatgr...hread.php?t=93 Good luck!
